My mission to Find the Good began last spring. Though the reason for it wasn’t at all related to the pandemic, it’s still definitely very helpful to look for what’s good when the world has literally been turned upside down.
My morning walks became my hunting ground for good with nature supplying the perfect backdrop. Anything that captivated my attention, in the way that you can become entranced by a breathtaking sunrise, was put on my list.
I am a mental-type person and can get very caught up in mind stuff. A beautiful moon or gorgeous flowers or even a gentle breeze, however, has been able to transport me directly to the realm of feeling, which bypasses the thinking mind. And it is there, within those brief experiences, that I have been touched by a whole and complete sense of harmony.
We’ve all had encounters like this, when a few seconds of true connection has stopped us in our tracks. The communication is intantaneous, without words or thoughts. It’s magic. It’s soul-speak. The goal is to build upon these moments by choosing to happen upon them rather than having them just happen to us! I believe that we can help this along by purposefully looking for, acknowledging, and expanding the good that comes into our lives.
Since I walk mostly every day, this practice has become very special to me. I even start off my walks by doing a set of energy exercises, which helps me open to the wonder that is within this exchange. By noticing and appreciating what I find to be good, my focus, out of habit, is now pointed in that direction throughout my entire day!
Find your good, in nature or otherwise. Harmony is very healing. Happy hunting!
