Even when…

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I miss you. Though you’ve been gone nearly five years now, I sometimes still get the urge to call you to tell you something, but then, a split second later, I remember you’re no longer “here” with us. The habit was so ingrained to fill you in on whatever was going on in our lives that it remains with me and my family.

I don’t have to worry about catching you up in the realm of spirit, however, as you are everywhere and anywhere all at once! I know that you (and Dad) hang out with us witnessing varied aspects of our lives. And I know that you keep tabs on your grandchildren cheering them on as you used to do. Sometimes we are a little sad to be without you in the physical, but your love has never left us.

We celebrate the time we had with you and will continue to hold you close in the years ahead. You are part of every day, every special occasion. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. (Happy Father’s Day next month, Dad.) Happy Birthdays to come. Happy Holidays to come. And on and on it goes.

For love is what holds us together,
It binds us with all of its might.
It shines no matter where we are,
Even when we’re out of someone’s sight.
